米国とイスラエルによる対イラン軍事攻撃に抗議し、対話の回復を求める声明

　公益財団法人日本クリスチャン・アカデミーは、報道されている米国およびイスラエルによるイランへの軍事攻撃（最高指導者の死亡を含むと伝えられる事態）に深い憂慮を覚え、強く抗議いたします。今回の軍事攻撃は、国連安全保障理事会の決議も米議会の承認も受けていません。一方的に武力に訴えて、主権を侵害する行為は、明白な国際法違反です。

　たとえイランが長期にわたり権威主義的な統治を続けてきたとしても、そのことが他国による武力行使を正当化する理由にはなりません。体制への批判や安全保障上の懸念が存在することと、主権の侵害、武力による現状変更、さらには指導者殺害を容認することとはまったく別の問題です。私たちは、イラン国内における人権の抑圧や自由の制限に目をつむるものではありません。しかし、それでもなお、他国による軍事力行使が平和を実現することはないと考えます。暴力によって「秩序」や「自由」をもたらそうとする発想は、国際社会の法の支配を脆弱なものにし、相互不信と報復を増幅させ、平和の土台を破壊します。

　軍事攻撃が生み出すのは安定ではなく、恐怖と憎悪の再生産です。民間人の生命、医療、生活基盤、将来への希望は、軍事的解決の名の下では常に最初に損なわれてきました。たとえ短期的に武力が成果を示したように見えても、それは次の暴力の火種となり、地域全体を危機へ引き込むことでしょう。核兵器による抑止が語られ、緊張が高まる状況そのものが、安全保障上すでに深刻な危機であることを認識しなければなりません。

　私たちは、教派を超えて、非キリスト教的世界の多様な価値観とも誠実に向き合い、「対話」そして「はなしあい」を平和に至る道として大切に歩んできました。いま必要なのは相手を沈黙させる力ではありません。対話の道を取り戻すための努力です。聖書は「平和を実現する人々は幸いである」（マタイによる福音書5章9節）と教え、「剣を取る者は皆、剣で滅びる」（同26章52節）と暴力の連鎖に加わることを戒めています。

　私たちは、米国政府およびイスラエル政府に対し、軍事行動の即時停止と国際法に立脚した外交による解決へ直ちに立ち返ることを求めます。あわせて、イランを含むすべての関係当事者に、報復の停止と最大限の自制を強く要請します。さらに国際社会には、事実関係の透明で公平な検証、人道支援の確保、そして包摂的な交渉枠組みの構築に向けた不断の努力を求めます。そして日本政府には、武力ではなく対話を軸とする国際協調を積極的に支える外交努力の継続を要請します。

　私たちは今後も、いかなる理由によるものであれ、いかなる国家・組織・勢力によるものであったとしても、軍事力による問題解決を認めることはありません。平和は「はなしあい」によってのみ可能であることを粘り強く訴え続けます。

Statement Protesting the U.S. and Israeli Military Attack on Iran and Calling for the Restoration of Dialogue

　　　We, the Nippon Christian Academy, express grave concern and strongly protest the military attack on Iran reportedly carried out by the United States and Israel, including reports that Iran's Supreme Leader has been killed. This military attack has not been authorized by a United Nations Security Council resolution or approved by the U.S. Congress. The unilateral use of force and the violation of sovereignty constitute a clear breach of international law.

　　　Even if Iran has long been governed in an authoritarian manner, this does not constitute a justification for the use of force by other countries.  Criticism of a political system or the existence of security concerns is one matter; violations of sovereignty, attempts to alter the status quo by military power, and the killing of a political leader are another. We do not close our eyes to the suppression of human rights or the restriction of freedom within Iran. But we believe that the use of military force by other states cannot bring about peace. The notion that violence can deliver "order" or "freedom" undermines the rule of law in the international community, amplifies distrust and retaliation, and destroys the foundations of peace.

　　　Military attacks produce is not stability, but the reproduction of fear and hatred.  Civilian lives, medical care, the foundations of daily life, and hope for the future have always been the first to be damaged under the name of "military solutions." Even if force appears to yield short-term "results," it becomes the spark for the next violence and draws entire regions into deeper crisis. The very fact that nuclear deterrence is being invoked and tensions are rising must be recognized as a grave security crisis already.

　　　Across denominational lines, we have long sought to engage sincerely with the diverse values of the non-Christian world, and to cherish "dialogue" and "Hanashiai" (listening and talking) as paths toward peace. What is needed now is not the power to silence one's opponent, but the effort to restore the path of dialogue. Scripture teaches, "Blessed are the peacemakers" (Matthew 5:9), and warns that "all who take the sword will perish by the sword" (Matthew 26:52), admonishing us not to join the spiral of violence.　

　　　We call on the government of the United States and the government of Israel to halt military action immediately and to return without delay to a diplomatic resolution grounded in international law. At the same time, we strongly urge all parties concerned, including Iran, to cease retaliation and to exercise the utmost restraint. We further urge the international community to pursue transparent and fair verification of the facts, to secure humanitarian assistance, and to continue unremitting efforts to build an inclusive framework for negotiations. We also call on the government of Japan to continue diplomatic efforts that actively support international cooperation centered on dialogue rather than force.　　

　　　We will not accept military force as a means of resolving problems--whatever the reason, and whoever the actors may be. We will continue to speak with perseverance that peace is possible only through "Hanashiai."

米国によるベネズエラへの軍事行動に反対し、対話による解決を求める声明

 

私たち、公益財団法人日本クリスチャン・アカデミーは、2026年1月3日に報じられた米国によるベネズエラ領内での軍事行動と、同国指導者が拘束され、米国へ移送されたとされる事態に深く憂慮し、以下のとおり反対を表明します。

 

いかなる政治的目的であっても、武力の行使は、市民の生命と生活を脅かし、社会の分断と憎悪の連鎖を生みます。失われてよい命は一つもありません。死傷者が生じたと伝えられる以上、事実関係の検証と人道的配慮が最優先されなければなりません。

 

国際社会は、主権の尊重と武力不行使を基本原則として築かれてきました。国連憲章が定める武力行使禁止の原則に照らし、今回の軍事行動は国際法上の重大な疑義を免れません。他国の領域に軍事力をもって介入し、外部権力が現状の変更を図るならば、それは国際秩序の根幹を揺るがす憂慮すべき軍事行動です。たとえ指導者個人に重大な容疑があるとしても、法の支配に立脚した手続きと国際協調の枠組みのもとで対処されるべきであり、強制的な身柄拘束が前例となることは看過できません。

 

さらに、石油資源など経済的利害が軍事力によって左右されるならば、資源と市場を支配するための暴力が正当化されかねません。資源は本来、その国の人びとの生活と尊厳を支えるために用いられるべきであり、外部の利益を優先する介入は、脆弱な立場にある人びとの困難をさらに深めることになります。

 

私たちは長年、暴力や武力、軍事力によらず、当事者と国際社会の粘り強い「はなしあい」によって紛争や社会課題の解決を求めて活動を続けてきました。聖書は「平和を実現する人々は、幸いである」（マタイによる福音書5章9節）と語り、また「剣を取る者は皆、剣で滅びる」（同26章52節）と戒めています。武力は問題を沈静化させるのではなく、さらなる暴力の口実となってきたことを歴史は繰り返し示してきました。

 

私たちは、米国大統領に対し、武力行使の停止と、国際法に立脚した手続き、そして外交による解決へ直ちに立ち返ることを求めます。関係各国政府ならびに国連関係機関には、人道的被害の拡大を防ぎ、医療・食料・水などの支援が妨げられない環境を確保しつつ、包摂的な対話の可能性を開くための公正な努力を継続することを要請します。日本国政府には、生命の尊厳と国際法の原則を重んじ、「剣を打ち直して鋤とし、槍を打ち直して鎌とする」（イザヤ書2章4節）との祈りが実現される国際社会のために、関係各国への積極的な働きかけを求めます。

 

日本クリスチャン・アカデミーは今後も、武力や軍事力による現状変更に反対し、異なる立場の者たちによる対話、「はなしあい」による平和な国際社会の実現を訴え続けます。

Statement Opposing U.S. Military Action in Venezuela and Calling for a Resolution through Dialogue

We, the Nippon Christian Academy (Public Interest Incorporated Foundation), express grave concern and state our opposition to the U.S. military action within Venezuelan territory reported on January 3, 2026, including reports of the detention and transfer to the United States of the Venezuelan leader. Whatever the political objective may be, the use of force endangers the lives and livelihoods of civilians and fuels cycles of division and hostility. If casualties have occurred as reported, careful verification of the facts and the highest level of humanitarian consideration must be given priority.

The international community has been built upon the basic principles of respect for sovereignty and the non-use of force. In light of the United Nations Charter, which in principle prohibits the use of force, the reported action raises serious doubts as to its compatibility with international law. When military power is used to intervene in another country's territory and to alter the status quo from outside, the foundations of the international order are shaken. Even where grave allegations exist against particular individuals, the proper course is to address them through legal procedures and frameworks of international cooperation. We cannot overlook the creation of a precedent in which coercive detention is carried out by force. When changes to the status quo by force are repeated in the name of "justice," the world is drawn into an endless spiral of retaliation.

Moreover, when we consider the oil resources and economic interests that appear to lie behind this, we cannot dismiss the concern that military power is being used as a means to control resources and markets. Resources ought to be used to sustain the lives and dignity of the people of the country concerned; intervention that prioritizes external interests risks further deepening the hardship of those in vulnerable positions.

For many years we have worked to seek solutions to conflicts and social challenges not through violence, armed force, or military power, but through persistent Hanashiai (listening and talking) among the parties concerned and the international community. Scripture says, "Blessed are the peacemakers" (Matthew 5:9), and warns that "all who take the sword will perish by the sword" (Matthew 26:52). History has repeatedly shown that force does not calm a problem, but becomes a pretext for further violence.

We call on the President of the United States to halt the use of force and to return without delay to procedures grounded in international law, and to pursue a diplomatic resolution. We urge all governments concerned, together with the relevant bodies of the United Nations, to prevent the expansion of humanitarian suffering, to secure an environment in which assistance--medical care, food, and water--can be delivered without obstruction, and to continue fair efforts to open up possibilities for inclusive dialogue. We also call on the Government of Japan to respect the dignity of life and the principles of international law, and to engage proactively with relevant countries toward a peace in which, as Isaiah 2:4 declares, "they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks."

The Nippon Christian Academy will continue to oppose attempts to change the status quo by force or military power, and will continue to advocate for a peaceful international community through non-military means--through dialogue among people in differing positions and Hanashiai (listening and talking).
